Wow! We had a great time last weekend and hope you did as well. Our staff received many nice compliments from attendees, and a large percentage of our vendors have told us they will be back next year.

We’re on TV (again)!

Three up-and-coming fashion designers – part of the team that will strut their stuff during a fashion show on the Girlfriends Expo & Getaway stage Friday night — were interviewed on KARE11 4 p.m. news yesterday. These young women did a fabulous job on camera.

The fashion show starts at 7 p.m. on Friday November 18th. Their clothing items will be for sale at their booth during the expo. Or perhaps you’ll want to commission one of them to design a fabulous, one-of-a-kind piece just for you!!!

Get to the expo by 6:15 on Friday night. You’ll want to hear Gary Johnson, of the Better Business Bureau, reveal some of the most pervasive scams targeting women. He hears them all, and can tell you what to look for to make sure an interesting opportunity is legit.

Gary can also tell you how to report scams, so that you can help prevent other women from falling prey to the scavengers of the world

Tune into the 4 p.m. news broadcast on KARE 11 TV (November 2) for a special interview with one of our exhibitors, Sarah Gordon, a home staging expert and professional organizer. Sarah will be promoting the expo, as well as inviting people to attend her seminar during the expo called Wine & Dine in Chic Design.

To have great personal style, you’ve got to learn how to pay attention to the small details. You could study fashion magazines, but it would be much more fun to grab your friends and possibly find your very own personal fashion muse during this year’s Girlfriends Expo & Getaway.

Get ready for the ultimate fashion show of the year, presented by current students and graduates of St. Kate’s Fashion Merchandising and Design Program. The models will strut the runway wearing 25-40 different looks, ranging from casual ready-to-wear and business clothes to cocktail ensembles; updated retro-inspired apparel; evening wear; and whimsical, edgy alternative fashions.

“We’re planning a visual smorgasbord!” says fashion design student Brianna Westlund. “We are very fortunate to have an eclectic class of designers. Each of us brings a unique and distinctive sense of style and design to the cutting table.”

Westlund emphasizes that today’s fashion industry places greater emphasis on personal style and panache rather than simply focusing on creating ‘age appropriate’ clothing. “Few of us believe that we should place restrictions on who can wear what, based upon their age group,” she explains. “We feel that the emphasis should be placed not on what is worn but how it is worn, and how it makes you feel.”
